一、特邀嘉宾:Prof. Erwin Reisner
报告人介绍:
Erwin Reisner received his education and professional training in coordination and biological inorganic chemistry at the University of Vienna, Austria (PhD with Prof Bernhard K. Keppler, 2005), the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, MA, USA (postdoc with Prof Stephen J. Lippard, 2005-7) and the University of Oxford, UK (postdoc with Prof Fraser A. Armstrong, 2008-9). He joined the University of Cambridge, UK as a University Lecturer in the Department of Chemistry in 2010 and as a Fellow of St. John’s College in 2011, was appointed to Reader in 2015, to Professor of Energy and Sustainability in 2017, and Royal Academy of Engineering Chair in Emerging Technologies in 2024. He has received several awards in recognition of his team's scientific achievements, including the Hughes Medal by the Royal Society (2023) and the Tilden Prize by the Royal Society of Chemistry (2024). He is a member of the international advisory boards of Angewandte Chemie (German Chemical Society), Chemical Science (Royal Society of Chemistry) and Accounts of Chemical Research (American Chemical Society). His research programme on solar CO2 utilisation has been supported by the Christian Doppler Laboratory for Sustainable SynGas Chemistry (2012-2019) to create artificial leaves, an ERC Consolidator grant (2016-2023) to develop semi-artificial photosynthesis and an ERC Advanced Grant (UKRI-funded; since 2023) to establish semi-biological domino catalysis. He is a Clarivate Highly Cited Researcher, as well as co-founder and CSO of the plastic waste reforming start-up company Protonera.
报告题目:Solar Chemical Technologies
报告内容:
Inspired by the blueprint of photosynthesis, creating synthetic systems for the direct conversion of sunlight into sustainable fuels has long been a defining ambition of chemistry. While decades of research have been spent on developing solar water splitting catalysts to produce green hydrogen, recently a new generation of photosynthesis-inspired architectures capable of directly converting sunlight, carbon dioxide and carbon waste streams has emerged. This advance has been made possible by developing and integrating metal complex and biological catalysts with semiconductor materials and electrodes, together with engineering of bespoke devices. This lecture will first introduce functional mimics of photosynthesis, which couple semiconductor light absorbers with immobilised (bio)catalysts to achieve solar-driven carbon dioxide fixation alongside water oxidation to oxygen. Next, an alternative strategy will be presented that replaces challenging water oxidation reaction by the oxidation of waste biomass and plastics. This concept, termed solar reforming, simultaneously improves reaction thermodynamics, enhances overall rate of catalysis, and creates economic value through oxidative valorisation while simultaneously generating clean fuel. The demonstration of outdoor solar plastic reforming at the kilogram and square-metre scale illustrates the growing potential of this approach as a practical route towards circular solar-powered manufacturing. The lecture will close by giving an overview of emerging frontiers in integrated solar chemistry, including atmospheric utilisation, advanced light-management strategies, and solar-powered cascade catalysis for selective chemical organic synthesis. Together, this presentation aims to provide a compelling vision for a new generation of solar technologies that combine carbon capture, plastic and biomass waste valorisation, and renewable chemical manufacturing in integrated, scalable systems.

报告题目:Metal-organic frameworks for electrocatalytic oxygen evolution reaction
报告内容:
The development of efficient and cost-effective catalysts is crucial for improving the efficiency of emerging energy technologies and the production of important chemicals. Transition-metal organic/inorganic carbon materials hold great promise as high-performance catalysts owing to their high specific surface areas, tunable pore structures and compositions, and well-defined architectures. However, their applications in electrocatalytic small-molecule conversion are often limited by intrinsically poor electrical conductivity and the limited accessibility of active sites. To overcome these limitations, a coordination-microenvironment engineering strategy is developed to precisely regulate the geometric and electronic structures of active sites, thereby substantially enhancing catalytic activity and selectivity. Guided by charge-transfer principles, an interfacial charge-distribution catalytic system is further established to enable efficient and rapid energy-related catalytic conversions. The integration of operando spectroscopy with theoretical calculations reveals, at the atomic level, the origins of catalytic activity, intrinsic structure–property relationships, and the mechanisms underlying performance enhancement. These advances not only enable transition-metal organic/inorganic carbon catalysts to replace conventional noble-metal catalysts (e.g., Pt, Ru and Ir), but also reduce energy consumption while further improving selectivity and stability across key electrocatalytic processes, including the hydrogen, oxygen and chlorine evolution reactions, as well as the oxygen and carbon dioxide reduction reactions.
